A Visual Residency: NOVA Philarmonia.
Documenting the evolution of London's most dynamic ensemble.
The Partnership: More Than One Night
There is a profound difference between shooting a single concert and documenting an orchestra's entire seasons.
For over almost two years, I have served as the primary photographer for NOVA Philarmonia, documenting every single performance. This long-term collaboration has allowed me to become a "visual historian" for the ensemble, capturing not just their performances, but their growth, their community, and their identity as an organization.
My role goes beyond documentation; it is about visual consistency. I ensure that from the season opener to the summer finale, NOVA’s brand looks cohesive, cinematic, and professional.
The "Resident" Advantage
Because I have worked with NOVA for every concert, I don't just know the music, I know the musicians.
Anticipating the Moment: I know the conductor's cues. I know how the string section moves during a crescendo. This familiarity allows me to capture split-second moments of emotion that a one-off photographer would miss.
Trust & Invisibility: The players are used to my presence. I am no longer a stranger with a camera; I am part of the fabric of the rehearsal and performance. This trust allows me to get closer and shoot more intimately without breaking their focus.
A Unified Aesthetic: Over the last year, we have built a distinct "look" for NOVA: vibrant, energetic, and intimate. This consistency helps them stand out to donors and audiences alike.
The Value of a Season Photographer
For orchestras and ensembles, hiring a dedicated photographer for the season is an investment in your legacy.
Consistent Branding: Your website and program notes never look disjointed.
Donor Engagement: You have a constant stream of high-quality assets to send to newsletters and funding bodies, proving your activity and success.
Musician Retention: Players love seeing high-quality images of themselves doing what they love. It builds morale and community.
