Capturing Musical History: Duo Atlantis & Bear McCreary in Abbey Road Studio 3
Humanizing the Unseen: Filming a Story of the Congo in Abbey Road
This was one of the most significant projects I have ever been commissioned to film.
When I was approached to create the music video for Duo Atlantis performing Bear McCreary's new composition, I learned it was more than just a piece of music. It was an allegory.
Scored for piano, mezzo-soprano, violin, cello, harp, marimba, and timpani, the composition serves to humanize the unseen cost of our modern comforts. It is a powerful story about the humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where children are forced to work in hazardous cobalt mines to fuel the global demand for smart devices.
My task as a filmmaker was to create a visual piece with the same weight, respect, and intention as the music itself.
The full music video hasn’t been released yet but stay tuned.
Do You Have an Important Story to Tell?
I partner with artists and creatives to translate complex visions and vital messages into cinema. If your project needs a filmmaker who understands the "why," let's talk.
