The Modern Portfolio:

A 4-Part Showreel for Alexandra Standing

For the modern classical musician, one video is rarely enough. Pianist Alexandra Standing needed a versatile video portfolio that could serve two purposes: a cohesive showreel for agents, and a series of short, high-quality clips for social media reels. Filmed withing one hour, amongst the world-class instruments at Coach House Pianos, this project is a masterclass in efficient, high-end production.

The Brief: Versatility in One Session

The goal of this session wasn't just to record a performance; it was to capture a musical identity. Alexandra needed to demonstrate range, from delicate playing to powerful, technical passages.

Instead of one long performance, we structured the shoot around 4 short, distinct videos. This 'micro-content' strategy allows the artist to:

  • Feed their Instagram/TikTok algorithm for weeks.

  • Send specific clips to casting directors based on the requested style.

  • Combine them into a single showreel.

The location: Coach House Piano

Location is everything in a showreel. We chose the Coach House Pianos showroom for its stunning visual depth and acoustic excellence.

Filming in a high-end piano store offers unique advantages:

  • The Instrument: Access to concert-ready Steinway and Bösendorfer instruments ensures the sound matches the visual quality.

  • Visual Depth: The backdrop of high-gloss black instruments creates natural reflections and a sense of 'infinity' in the background, adding high-production value without the cost of a set build.

  • Acoustics: A space designed for pianos to sing, not just a dry studio.
